LITERATURE, POETRY, THEATER |
In Bixio's works one finds often explicit or hidden references not only to the
painters who have inspired him, but also to various aspects of culture,
folklore and mythology, with which he intertwines fantastical, sometimes
ironical, elements of his own. On the painting here on the side, for example,
are present at the same time suggestions from Giuseppe Valeri's poetry and from
Botticelli's iconography.

The paintings are the result of the free interpretation operated by the author
on the suggestions coming from the reference works, elaborated, expanded and
deformed, unconsciously or intentionally, in relation to the whole of the
author personal experiences, with which such suggestions melt and confuse.
The composition elements, evoked by associations of ideas and emotional
tensions, may be induced by the whole atmosphere, a single sentence or, more
simply, from the title.

The northern saga, from which Ibsen's complex story takes origin, plays on the
ambiguity between dream and reality, utopia and mediocrity, originality and
conformity, and turns out an ideal model for Bixio's artistic attitude: the
allegory of Life in the quest of cosmic Happiness.

Also in this case the work is born by osmosis among images, writings and
self-quotations. Fragments from the "Primavera" by Botticelli, from
Sanskrit iconography and from Umberto Eco imaginary develop themselves into an
oneiric composition whose colours, deliberately not realistic (as usual in
Bixio's work), take the same symbolic value of the single elements.
